MULTI-AWARD WINNERS - "BEST BAND" 2025 & 2024 AT THE UK BHANGRA AWARDS!
As featured on BBC One and by the Daily Mirror, Masti are a multi-award winning FAMILY band blending youth and experience - they are the re-birth and evolution of the popular old school Bhangra band "Nayi Roshni", together with one of the children (now an adult - Aamir!) now fronting the band. Masti have performed as part of BBC Children In Need, BBC Make A Difference Awards, national Mela's and more, and wrote the Desi Christmas Anthem "Jingle Balle" which catapulted them to fame with tens of millions of views across social media. Masti also won the awards for "Best Band" in both 2024 and 2025 at the hugely prestigious UK Bhangra Awards.
Masti became famous for creating a unique niche: transforming popular English songs into high-energy Bhangra and Bollywood anthems. Son Aamir delivers the English vocals whilst playing the keyboards, his father Amjad performs the Hindi and Punjabi vocals, and Uncle Surinder drives the rhythm on the dhol and dholak. They perform either as a live band or to bespoke high energy backing tracks they’ve written themselves. Masti have also performed at Mela's nationally including Glasgow Mela, Manchester Mela, Sheffield Mela, Leicester Mela, Luton Mela and more. They have shared stages with Juggy D, Apache Indian, Shin (DCS), Roach Killa, Sahara, Zack Knight, Apna Sangeet, Faizan Ali Khan and more.
Their journey began when Aamir wanted to see his father and uncle back on stage. The duo were in the old school band Nayi Roshni, releasing two hit albums, and supported the likes of Heera, Alaap, DCS, Apna Sangeet, Pardesi, Premi and more, before Amjad stepped back when he became a dad. Aamir vowed to bring his father back to stage one day and they reformed as Masti. Crowds fell in love with the fact that they were seeing a family on stage and that they were hearing their favourite iconic English songs being turned into high energy Bhangra/Bollywood mashups, alongside performing all the classic Bollywood/Bhangra anthems too.

Prior to Masti, Amjad wrote the music for two hit albums for Nayi Roshni and Zabardast – which both reached the top 3 in the UK Asian music charts and were international hits from Singapore to Canada! Surinder meanwhile continued full-time in music as a dhol player, DJ and live sound engineer, and created his world-first signature "drumki" (dholki with drum pads built in) which he plays together. Aamir is a talented keyboard player and versatile musician who also runs a popular DJ roadshow, having DJ’d with a host of celebrities (see Masti's DJ page for more info) internationally and also gigs for Red Bull. He has a First Class Degree in Music Production and Sound Engineering.
They have also worked with some of the biggest global names in Bhangra as sound engineers - Malkit Singh (Gur Nal Ishq Mitha), Lehmber Hussainpuri (Sadi Gali), Angrej Ali (Tharti Hildi), amongst other huge names, working with the legendary “Tubsy” (arguably the greatest pioneer of British Punjabi music) and the world famous Live Experience Band, providing live sound, DJ backing and backing vocals.
