Last few stops - the Mela Festivals of Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, Leicester and Nottingham!
As featured on the BBC, Masti are an award winning family band blending youth and experience - they are the re-birth and evolution of the wildly popular old school Bhangra band "Nayi Roshni", together with one of the children (now an adult - Aamir!) performing alongside! Masti have performed as part of BBC Children In Need, BBC Christmas Specials and more, and recently went viral for creating a Bollywood Christmas Song (Jingle Bells remix!), racking up millions of views. Masti also won the award for "Best Band 2024" at the hugely prestigious UK Bhangra Awards.
Masti perform a selection of Bollywood and Bhangra bangers - and also reimagine English songs with a Bhangra twist! They mash things up, switching instruments mid-performance and get the crowd interacting. Masti strive to be “different” and bring real creativity.
Featured on the BBC multiple times, Masti have performed at Mela's nationally including Glasgow Mela, Manchester Mela, Sheffield Mela, Leicester Mela, Nottingham Eid Mela and more. They have shared stages with Apache Indian, Roach Killa, Faizan Ali Khan, Sahara, Zack Knight, Rameet Sandhu, Sardara Gill (Apna Sangeet) and more.
Amjad and Surinder initially fronted "Nayi Roshni", supporting the likes of Heera, Alaap, DCS, Apna Sangeet, Pardesi, Premi and more, before pursuing different musical projects. They have been joined by Aamir (Amjad's son!) and have reformed as Masti!

Prior to Masti, Amjad wrote the music for two hit albums for Nayi Roshni and Zabardast – which both reached the top 3 in the UK Asian music charts and were international hits from Singapore to Canada! Surinder meanwhile continued full-time in music as a dhol player, DJ and live sound engineer, and created his world-first signature "drumki" (dholki with drum pads built in) which he plays together. Aamir is a talented keyboard player and versatile musician who also runs a popular DJ roadshow, having DJ’d with a host of celebrities (see Masti's DJ page for more info) internationally and also gigs for Red Bull. He has a First Class Degree in Music Production and Sound Engineering.
They have also worked with some of the biggest global names in Bhangra as sound engineers - Malkit Singh (Gur Nal Ishq Mitha), Lehmber Hussainpuri (Sadi Gali), Angrej Ali (Tharti Hildi), amongst other huge names, working with the legendary “Tubsy” (arguably the greatest pioneer of British Punjabi music) and the world famous Live Experience Band, providing live sound, DJ backing and backing vocals.
